We Are the Champions

The Blackburn Division Two Winning Team Season 5

The photo was taken after the fans had left the stadium at Elland Road this evening where Blackburn clinched the title with an emphatic 4-2 win. 2-0 up inside 10 minutes due to talisman Petersen, Lowe made it 3 before Rivas added a 4th. Zoet was excellent as usual and with Derby losing to Southampton the title was secure.

"No more 2nd place... " Petersen joked after the match clearly light headed as Aguilar the Mexican handed him the Tequila and De Silvestri took the bottle of Whisky from Petersen's other hand.

Many of the other players seemed a little worse for wear with Glik trying to ply the reporters with Polish vodka he said he'd brought from Aldi and David Dunn trying to stop the younger players Brandt and Bigrimana from drinking anymore.

Despite being suspended for the game Captain Bertrand and his girlfiend and her friends were all there bottles of Yorkshire red wine in hand encouraging the players to drink more.

Beddows himself believes that the physiological impact of Beddows publically conceding the title first to JV and Leeds, who subsequently have not won in the 5 matches since Beddows 'gave up' and then last week he conceded the title to Kinnear and Derby who tonight 'blew it' had been the deciding factors.

"Pressure... they just could not hack it... By 'giving up' on being first my players felt no pressure and played their natural game. It is a fantastic evening for Rovers..." Champions... Champions...

Beddows was asked about Andy Murray and his impact on Blackburn's title race... He said "Publically it was right to thank him... and we felt sorry for him... But we do not like 2nd place... We are WINNERS! He did call me to congratulate me but I told him I was busy and gave him Frank (Tranmere)'s number.)"

Here is a video of the Blackburn Rover's fans at the final whistle this evening. Their chant for 'Jordan Rhodes' might be a call for Beddows to bring him on board?

Paul Aguilar who Beddows brought to England in September direct from Mexico was quite emotional at the end of the game as he was presented with a special video from his family back home, he said through his interpreter, Diego Maradona "I am very very happy... for me this is the most special momento of my life... I am so happy and my family make special video I want to share... with all Blackburn fan"

The official celebrations and special edition video will be released when they are given the title after Saturday match v Millwall at Ewood.

  1. Well done Blackburn Rovers and Stephen (I named you second so that you could still be like Andy Murray). The best and most consistent team won. I knew Southampton would have been tough with the history and the fact we had 4 key players missing. I hope to join you in the top flight by this time next week. Again, congratulations
