Wednesday End of Season Report

Despite most end of season reports happening after the final match, Ted Powell insisted his took place before their final match tonight away at Brighton. ' Me and my old mucker Sam Allardyce are going on a mental holiday together. Ibiza 2k15. Sun, Sea, Sex, Music and booze....and sex'. So Daily Telegraph reporter Henry Winter sat down with the man at the helm to discuss what's been a successful season.

HW- Tell us Ted, how would you rate your season on a scale of 1-10? And why?

TP- Well, overall I would give it a solid 8, a 9 since I've arrived. We only got ptomoted last season but where in a  bit of a mess when I arrived last December, languishing in 17th place. But we've been very impressive since then, and have deservedly moved up the league into the top half.

HW- What has been your brightest spark of the season? Which three players have impressed you the most at Wednesday and why?

TP- For me, Artjoms Rudnevs has been the star. He won our player of the year on Monday night ans has been very impressive. Jefferson Montero has scored 10 and also got 5 assists. The surprise package for me has been Odion Ighalo, who has scored 7 and assisted 6 from central midfield, and has forced his way into our starting line-up impressively. He had his chance and grasped it with both hands.

HW- Are you letting the lads go on holiday individually or have you picked a special destination for a team holiday? What are the plans?

TP- Well, as I mentioned, Sam Allardyce, I and a few others are off to Ibiza. I'm letting the lads go and do their own thing. We'll have a training camp once they're back but they've earnt the right to do as they please for a while.

HW- Are you likely to be busy in the transfer market? And are you likely to be doing your shopping at Lidl, Aldi, Sainsburys or Waitrose over the break?

TP- We've already brought a few players in recently, in Yoann Thuram, Hugo Ayala and Guillame Gillet. We're very happy with them as they add depth and quality to our squad. We don't have the most money in the world but expect a couple more permanent signings, as well as 2 or 3 loans for next season. Aldi will have to do, maybe with the occasional trip to Sainsburys.

HW- Finally, do you have any players you think should be going to the World Cup, and if so do you think it will have a negative impact on them next season?

TP- There may be a few lads going. Mehdi Carcela Gonzalez should be going for Morocco, with Jefferson Montero one of the stars for the Ecuador side. We have a couple of Belgians in Guillame Gillet and Thomas Meunier. and with his versatility, I'd be especially surprised if Gillet isn't called up. Finally I would expect the versatile Olcan Adin, who's been bery impressive for us, to get called up by Turkey. We're proud to have a few lads going, and I can't see it having any negative impact at all. It should spur them on to show their best form next season.
