Sheffield Wednesday- End of Season Gala

Sheffield Wednesday hosted their end of season gala on Monday night at Kenwood Hall in the city. They beat off competition from rivals Sheffield United to host the gala there. After an intense screaming match, Ted Powell ripped off his suit, revealing a West Ham shirt, and chucking at at the face of Norman Little, before going up to the Blades manager and whispering ' Blame Tevez' before marching off triumphantly.

A number of famous Wednesday fans were at the event, with live entertainment from Owls supporters The Arctic Monkeys and Jarvis Cocker, with Michael Palin presenting the ceremony. 'It's been a very successful turn around at the club in the past season. Having been promoted last year, we were struggling when Powell took over in late December, but an array of signings and impressive management have seen as rise up the table, to sit a respectable 10th. '

At 8.17pm there was shock and distress across the Hall as former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock broke in, whipped his clothes off and tarted doing the Harlem Shake in front of a horrified audience.

After around 15 minutes of attempting to catch Warnock, the police were finally able to catch the biggest dickhead in English football, and after a vote involving everybody invited to the gala, it was decided he'd be shipped off to Namibia and, hopefully, never seen again.

Anyway, let's move onto the awards then...

Best Team Performance- Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 Doncaster Rovers- 12/1/15- The Owls ripped Donny apart in early January, with goals for Cauna, Montero and a double for Aleix Vidal securing an impressive victory.

Individual Performance- Olcan Adin v Nottingham Forest- 20/12/14- There were many candidates for this one, but Olcan Adin ran the show in our 3-1 success at home to Forest late last year. Adin got an assist for Carcela-Gonzalez after just 3 minutes, and after 6 minutes got on the scoresheet himself, as he produced an excellent performance to seal what was an excellent result for us.

Breakthrough Player- Odion Ighalo- 18 appearances, 7 goals, 6 asists, average rating (7.28). When Powell first joined Ighalo was not a starter for the club and was in poor form. However, since late last year he has been in tremendous for, and has forced his way into becoming one of the first names on the teamsheet, contributing to 13 goals, most of which have come in the latter stage of the campaign.

Young Player- Bram Nuytinck- The youth at Wednesday aren't the best, so for some reason I'm having to include a 24 year old in this category. Anyway, the Belgian centre back has been a revelation since arriving from Anderlecht.

And finally for the big one- PLAYER OF THE YEAR

There were a number of candidates for this one-
1. Aleix Vidal
2. Pape Souare
3. Alexandrs Cauna
4. Jefferson Montero
5. Odion Ighalo
6. Artjoms Rudnevs

After a closely fought contest, receiving 38% of the vote, the Sheffield Wednesday Player of the Year for Season 5 goes too........ARTJOMS RUDNEVS!!!!!!

The Latvian centre forward arrived from German side Hamburg for £7.7 million back in December, and has been on fire since. In 16 games, he has scored 9 goals and also laid on an impressive 5 assists for his team-mates, with an average performance of 7.94 an impressive feat.

Rudnevs signs a young Owl's Programme

Geez (chortle, chortle), there sure are some degenerate footballers in your town...
Why not just toss a coin instead? :P

I bet there was intense screaming and live entertainment... this is venturing into German adult entertainment territory!
