Tranmere set out defensively and contained Dortmund, forcing them to shoot from the edge of the box, with Jan Oblak making some sublime saves. Hirst's tactics seemed to be very aggresive, giving away too many free kicks at times and captain Totti eventually getting sent off with 5 minutes to spare. The all important goal came on 61 minutes, when star striker Romelu Lukaku controlled a great ball by De Bruyne on his chest and rolled it past Hummels to the on running Ansaldi, who smashed it past Weidenfeller, bursting the net on the way!
