Tranmere Claim 1st European Title of the Season

Tranmere started the season with an SMFA Super Cup win over fellow English Division 1 side, Swansea City. Hirst decided to hand debuts to 3 players in this game with Joshua Guilavogui starting the game in defensive midfield and was replaced by fellow debutant, Jonathan Dos Santos at half time and the 3rd was Adam Lallana who played the full match in attacking midfield, getting an assist along the way.

The game started very well for the boys from Birkenhead, with Lallana creating a couple of chances, with the breakthrough coming on 26 minutes, when Lallana fed Bonaventura who broke into the box and smashed it past Vorm. With 1 minute till half time, Neil Taylor brought down Mario and De Bruyne found the bonce of fellow countryman Lukaku to make it 2-0.

The biggest and best news was that during the day, Mattia Perin had his medical in Monaco and was spotted outside the Stade Louis II signing autographs for some Tranmere fans who had made the trip.

With Hirst finally signing his favourite goalkeeper in World Football, does this spell the end for Jan Oblak?
