Swindon Boss Speaks to the Media

"I hope tonight I will not be relegated in 4 division but if it will happens I'm not going to run away but I will ready to stay here to get promotion to 3 division. C'mon Swindon, we can do it!"

He added in Italian:

"Molte scelte nella mia formazione saranno obbligate ma non per questo abbiamo intenzione di mollare. Noi abbiamo preparato la gara nel migliore dei modi e siamo pronti alla guerra"

On Frank Fielding:

"E il mio portiere titolare e mi ha salvato tante volte. Devo tanto a lui se sono ancora in corsa per la salvezza. Mi sento sicuro come se avessi delle guardie del corpo e difendermi se c'e lui"

Elia De Pascali refused to answer questions about other 279 stories in English today!

Brown takes charge at the helm of Spurs

Brown took over as Spurs manager on the 19th of January as Craig (Bullshit) Bull quit without any warning, rumour has it that there was a bust up with Daniel Levy and Craig over allegations that Daniel was trying to make Craig do things he didn't want to do. Nobody knows what that was though.

Brown did not start off very well getting thumped by Manchester Utd. The games did not get any easier as the players were burnt out, Brown couldnt explain why but apparently he has been speaking to close friends that he thinks it was because ex Spurs manager Craig didnt rotate his squad.

The next game was against Arsenal (as if things could not get any worse) and they lost 0-2, which was an improvement on getting demolished 1-5 by Man U previously but still not the start Brown had in mind.

Now it was time to face West Brom and Brown's fully fit squad (or is it) went onto win 3-2 in a tight affair .. but you guessed it .. at a cost as now Tottenham have no recognised striker as Dempsey has been out from the start and now "Sow" is injured.

The next game saw us play Swansea which was a great watch for the mutuals as the game ended 3-3. Brown was chuffed with this result due to having to field an inexperienced striker.

All in all Brown has played 4 games, losing 2, drawing 1 and winning one. He has stated that once his strikers are fully fit and he sorts out his squad for next season White heart lane will be a much MUCH happier place!

DO DERBY WANT TO BE PROMOTED?

To say Derby County Football Club have overachieved this season is probably the biggest understatement of the year. With the squad they started the season with, they have no right to be fighting it out at the top of the table but a start that seen them play 13 league games without defeat before losing to great rivals Nottingham Forest means even an average record would keep them in the fight. There have been a couple of times that it looked as though the bubble had burst. They lost 4 games on the spin, including two to title favourites Blackburn, and it looked like Derby were fading and would finish middle of the pack but a 3-2 home win over fellow challengers Leeds United seemed to reignite the spark they had at the start of the season and they lost just one of their next ten games. So what is the secret that has turned Derby into one of the toughest teams to beat in the Division? We asked manager Gordon Kinnear.

Kinnear 'Secrets? We don't need no stinking secrets. All we need is love. I have created a teen spirit, told them to find their own nirvana. They pissed themselves laughing and told me to 'get a life'. I sensed that this wasn't working and went with the outdated hard work at training. I'm all out'

During the run that seen Derby lose four in a row, the fans actually booed the team from the park when they went down 3-1 at home to Blackburn. Football fans can be so fickle but this was outrageous. Most of their booing was directed at Kinnear who responded with a v sign. It was in the heat of the moment and Kinnear instantly regretted it. He looked to where the chairman was seated and dreaded the stare he expected only to see the chairman giving the v sign also. The chairman has always said he would support his manager and he was true to his word.

The main question is, of course, do Derby want to be promoted? This isn't a question that says that all at the club would rather stay in Division Two, it is more what would happen to them if they did get promoted. The squad has improved since the start of the season but it is nowhere near good enough to compete in the top flight. With not a lot of money around it would take a great effort to wheel and deal to get players in that are good enough so maybe another season in Division Two would be for the best. When putting this to Kinnear he said:

'La fromage de la chien dans la piscine. That means the cheesy dog is in the swimming pool'

That explains a lot. So with Derby certain to be in the play offs, can they get to Wembley and the promised land? In my opinion probably not. Sunderland, Fulham and Nottingham Forest will be the three other sides in the play offs and all three are stronger than the Rams. Their best bet is automatic promotion which with being just two points behind a shaky Leeds United and a dodgy John Vinicombe is still possible.

The bottom line is that if promotion is gained then the biggest battle will be trying to avoid coming straight back down again. As long as they hold on to one of the best managers that ever lived in Kinnear then anything is possible. I asked Kinnear if he thought he had the know how to keep Derby in the top division should it happen. He said

'Of course. I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business, but I am in the top one. Brian Clough stole that from me you know.'

Tomorrow night Derby travel to Nottingham Forest and a revenge mission is top of the list. There is a chance the teams could also meet in the play offs and that game wouldn't be for the faint hearted meaning that Forest boss Hudson would probably miss that game with his very soft heart.

The Art of Coming off Second Best

Blackburn manager Beddows took some serious liberties with journalistic ethics when he attacked fellow managers across the 5 divisions.

In retaliation, Internet hacktivist group Anonymous released this clip of Beddows in his playing days.

Promotion race hots up but Reynolds not feeling the pressure

Posh boss Lee Reynolds in his post match interview declared he is not feeling the pressure in the promotion push in Division 3.
Reynolds saw his troops secure a point at 3rd placed Pompey thanks to Babacar's second half strike. "We are in the box seat, Gareth Watson, The Doctor and Paul Rasmussen are the bosses having to motivate their players more. The lads know what is expected", commented boss Lee Reynolds.
Posh do face Plymouth in their run in who are in the hunt for 2nd spot and play off chasing Rochdale amongst others. "We'll take each game as it comes. I know it's a cliche but we have to concentrate on what we do and that's all that matters", Reynolds said.
Lee was quick to react to Bebbows comments declaring him a fake and it's all cheap talk. "It's easy when your top but there not there yet. There is 5 more games to go"
One of piece of news for our fans is Mr Posh who regularly leads the team out has been banned from the club for the remaining games. Mr Posh "Aka Mick Jones", was found slumped in the Posh bar drunk after the 1 all draw with Huddersfield at the Abax. Jones was very intoxicated and was swearing at a number of Huddersfield directors and guests in the bar. Jones was escorted from the bar by the bouncers whilst breaking a number of chairs and glasses. Chief exec Bob Symns announced to the Posh.com, "Mr Posh has been told to stay away from the Abax for the remaining games and Miss Posh will only be allowed to lead the team out. He will be subject to an internal enquiry and we shall make our decision once the season is over".

LEEDS UNITED PLAYERS IN MYSTERY FLU VIRUS: Written by John Vinicombe

Apparently , according to official reports coming out of Elland Road, the players are complaining of feeling a little `jittered`after the last 2 games and have told boss JV that after a night out spent listening to a George Michael tribute act that they have been overcome with `jitterbug` syndrome....this was after copious bucks fizz cocktails were gargled at the Club Tropicana club....this may have explained the last performance in particular where the players looked particularly glassy eyed and knock kneed........

Wonderful Wednesday help Derby and Blackburn

Sheffield Wednesday blew the promotion race wide open on Saturday evening with a stunning 3-1 win at home to 2nd placed Leeds United. The result allowed Gordon Kinnear's Derby to close the gap on John Vinicombe's side to just 2 points, while Stephen Beddows' Blackburn pulled away, with the title now seemingly destined for Ewood Park.

The match could not have started any better for the Owls, who were heading into the game unbeaten in five. Latvian Artjoms Rudnevs, a mid-season arrival from Hamburg, scored his 7th goal in 13 matches after just 7 minutes. A minute later, Ighalo laid the ball forward for Rudnevs again, but the flag went up for offside. For the rest of the half though, Vinicombe's side showed why they are promotion contenders, with Dzsudzsak and Pelle each coming close. However, 5 minutes before half time, Leeds did grab the equaliser they deserved through Bosnian defender Ervin Zukanovic, who latched onto Engin Baytar's corner to smash past former Leeds keeper Chris Kirkland.

Chris Brunt went close at the start of the 2nd half, but from then on, Wednesday were in control. Having already gone close a few minutes earlier, Odion Ighalo got on the end of Rudnevs' cross to poke past veteran keeper Morgan De Sanctis and restore the hosts lead.

It would get even better for Powell's men soon after though. Again, Ighalo netted, in the 76th minute, smashing in a freekick after Olcan Adin had been brought down by Taras Mykhalyk, and secure the 3 points. Ighalo has been in fine form recently. He scored the only goal in the win away at Nottingham Forest and draw at Wolves, and scored his 3rd and 4th goals in less than a week as Wednesday continue their fine form, which has stretched to 12 points in their last 6 matches, moving us up to 13th in the league.
